Bluecoats, Inc.

Serving families of fallen Cuyahoga County safety officers

About Bluecoats

Bluecoats is a charitable organization devoted exclusively to the well-being of families of Cuyahoga County safety officers who have lost their lives, or have become permanently and totally disabled and incapacitated, in the line of duty.
Since our inception in 1956, Bluecoats has fulfilled the vision of its founders by providing support and care to the families of those who have given their lives to protect each of us, our families and our community. Support takes many forms but is always tailored to the individual needs of the family members involved.

November 9th, 5:00 – 9:00 pm – Members’ Fall Dinner, Aviator Event Center, 20920 Brookpark Road, Cleveland.

(Details and invitations to follow.)

My husband, a Cleveland police officer, was shot and killed in the line of duty. The pain of losing him was tremendous and the thought of adjusting to life without him while raising three young children alone was excruciating. Bluecoats immediately began to address needs that we didn’t even know we had at the time.

The assistance that Bluecoats has provided throughout the years has helped me achieve my dreams and for that I will always be grateful. I just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and am starting my career in Charlotte.

Bluecoats came into our lives at the most crucial moment with endless compassion and honor for my husband. They embraced our family with love and supported us without conditions. My children have been shown the loving and giving side of the world as a result of what Bluecoats does for survivors. I am forever grateful for all they have done for my family.

I truly believe that organizations like Bluecoats make society better. I admire their kindness and seek to emulate that in my career and in my life.

The work of Bluecoats is made possible by the annual contributions of its members. This group of Greater Cleveland industrial, business, financial, professional and civic leaders, and their spouses, is the backbone of the organization. Bluecoats membership, which is limited by its charter, typically has a waiting list for admittance.
