Bluecoats, Inc.

Serving families of fallen Cuyahoga County safety officers

About Bluecoats

Bluecoats is a non-profit, charitable organization devoted exclusively to the well-being of families of Cuyahoga County safety officers who have lost their lives, or have become permanently and totally disabled and incapacitated, in the line of duty.
Since its inception in 1956, Bluecoats has provided support and care to families of more than 100 police and firefighters who have given their lives to protect each of us, our families, and our community. Support is always tailored to the individual needs of the family members involved, with a focus on the education of the fallen officers’ children.

(More details forthcoming.)

My husband, a Cleveland police officer, was shot and killed in the line of duty. Bluecoats came into our lives at the most crucial moment with endless compassion and honor for my husband. They embraced our family with love and supported us without conditions. My children have been shown the loving and giving side of the world because of what Bluecoats does for survivors. I am forever grateful for all they have done for not only me, but for all education expenses they paid (grade school, high school, and college) for my three children.

Thank you for all you have done, not only for me but for my children. Sometimes I sit back and wonder where I would have been without Bluecoats. You provided me financial help and security that was so needed, especially paying for my children’s college expenses. I cannot thank you enough. God Bless everyone in Bluecoats.

The education assistance that Bluecoats has provided throughout the years has helped me achieve my dreams, and for that I will always be grateful. I just graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and am starting my career in Charlotte.

Thank you to Bluecoats for all you have done for us and all you continue to do. Bluecoats is there helping every spouse and child in every way possible, meeting their every need. I can’t even imagine what I would have done without you. God bless all of you and thank you for all you have done.
